 Excerpt from Chapter 6

FORGIVENESS(Of Self and Others)

Forgiveness of Self (Excerpt)

...Conceiving, manifesting and exuding a true spirit of forgiveness is necessary for not only the full development of a healthy self, mind and body, but also a true Spiritual connection with one’s inner self, others and God. Just as some forms of cancer or other insidious diseases may silently and painlessly lie dormant, yet deteriorate the body internally doing potentially irreparable damage anger, hatred and the like are a few of the byproducts resulting from a lack of Forgiveness of Self and others. Though not often discussed or listed in any journals of modern medicine, lack of self-forgiveness, a form of self-condemning sabotage, is quite destructive by way of negative effects on the physical body, mind and Spirit. Again let me remind you this is my opinion and I feel correct in its conveyance.

First I’ll focus some energy on forgiveness of Self which will prove to be virtually interchangeable with forgiveness of Others. But what exactly is Forgiveness of Self? Its first and foremost, one’s true acknowledgement and acceptance of one’s own past mistakes, failures, abuses, neglects, losses, lies, deceptions, hatred, etc., etc. In my opinion, lack of Forgiveness of one’s Self is one of the most prevalent forms of self-abuse, a glitch in an individual’s spiritual armor.  A causative factor that perpetuates a multitude of physical and mental illnesses, addictions (alcohol/drug), verbal and physical abuses, self-mutilation risky (promiscuous) sexual behaviors, eating disorders, low self-esteem, failed relationships/marriages, lack of abundance and or personal success, suicide, etc.

We tend to forget, ignore or mentally file-away most of the things in our past lives that we consider negative, bad, ugly, evil, etc. After the acknowledgement, and embracement of such, then and only then can one purge and let go of said past negating experiences and or behaviors and begin to feel lighter, so to say, being that one’s past burdens that tend to torment in the present, are like concrete cylinder blocks stacked upon one’s shoulders over the years, weighing down one’s Spirit, mind and body, in effect, smothering one’s potential, blocking Blessings from coming to fruition and clouding one’s vision with regard to future happiness and or success. This by way of limited foresight and lack of a self-deserving attitude which is necessary to attract love, abundance, opportunities as well as meaningful relationships with others into one’s life.

Should this negating mindset, and that’s all it is; a mindset, be allowed to set in and become routine  with no effort to change it, the deep-rooted mentality then becomes a catalyst for a multitude of self-serving excuses used to justify the lack of love, success and abundance, etc. in one’s life. If one doesn’t work hard at eradicating and then reversing the methods of self-sabotage it can and will cheat the best, smartest and wealthiest of people out of their true, God-given destiny, that is, IF allowed!

Should one’s positive self-development and happiness become the primary objective in life, it then becomes obvious to us, maybe for the first time in our lives, that true self-forgiveness is a significant goal worth pursuing and then and only then, in my opinion, can a peaceful self-existence, in harmony with others, become a reality. This reality is naturally in alignment with one’s aforementioned true, God given destiny...

Forgiveness of Others (Excerpt)
...“It is, in my opinion, of the utmost importance to be Forgiving of one’s Self first in order to possess True fortitude and willingness to forgive Others”…Dwayne

Let me begin here by being honest with regard to my own personal experience with forgiveness of others. I, like most people, can hold a grudge as good and as long as anyone. Even as I write these words I am still making conscious efforts to forgive a few people who have wronged me in the past. The mere reflection and focus of those wrongs done to me is a clear indicator that true forgiveness of the wrongdoer has yet to be achieved. That old “Forgive but never Forget” mentality is actually a bailout, an excuse to, on the surface, appear forgiving but still harbor, hold onto and re-visit past injustices perpetrated upon us in our past. For the victim, it’s like a trump card held close to one’s chest or a get out of hatred-jail free card, whatever label you want to assign, it doesn’t stand up in the face of true forgiveness and when we believe we can actually justify this forgive but don’t forget mentality we are only fooling and not truly forgiving, but instead, holding onto and focusing on, when convenient, what hurt us in the past. Now I’m not claiming that it’s an easy task to forget past wrongs done us, but looking at the situation logically I would have to ask myself can I remember every bad thing others have done to me, of course not. So it is my opinion that it is by choice we hold onto certain past wrongs done to us and dismiss others whether consciously or subconsciously. Being that many of the past wrongs imposed on us by others have destroyed some relationships isn’t it possible that by holding on to said acts, whatever they may be, is a way of holding onto to the person or relationship in some way? Can it be possible that in our hearts and minds that’s all we have left of said relationship? Something to think about.

Here’s another thought that comes to mind…
